Out with the old, in with the NEW LESS EXPENSIVE

Well thats the plan. The success I have had with some of my gizmoes I have used in the past and I am talking LONG LONG past, have been well work the expense. Even if having to pay more for the name, I have found that the great names come with high quality goods. They lasted along time even with the abuse I placed on them.

In todays culture of thow away mentality in manufacturing. The consumer has more choices, price hunting and savings with large corporations such as Walmart and the huge elephant Amazon. Many products offered by different sellers are produced by the same manufacturer. The prices vary by seller. Some (sellers) believe in reduced price in the hope of quantity. While others…well I sometimes wonder just how much they actually sell with the prices they charge.

Personally I price shop….alot especially on my now limited budget. Anything over $25 requires some careful consideration before I part with the hard earned dough.

Aghhh at last I now have the opportunity to move right into my whole point of this post. Ok I was long winded and good a little off track…back to the high quality and duability of some of my gizmos from the far gone past.

I purchased a fly fishing lightweight chest pack. I bought it from Orvis and it was pricey. Even now thier products tend to be more expensive than a similar product. I say similar, meaning the features and accessories associated with the product type are essentually the same. With Orvis products thier quality and durability were AWESOME. Basically they last…along time. Are they worth the expense? Sure certainly from my experience. However, the new budget and all…well. So now I shop around. Price hunting and attempting to find a similar product.

I recently did this. As I said earlier I have had this particular chest pack from Orvice for sometime.(About 15 or more years). It more than proved its worth and extra expense. I did go back to them looking for a replacement but no luck. Not even an updated product. So off to price shop. After days of search results etc. I finally found one. And slightly under budget. It even has more room without a huge increase in size. Perfect.

The big question will it last. Even at half the price of the Orvis, it should in theory last half as long….well its my theory anyway. We will see.

Loaded with little extra features and more storage, while keeping the size down. I purchase a new chest pack. Only time will tell.

Here it is in its full glory. Check it out
