Watch “My Bushcraft Tool Roll – Handy to have. Keeps everything in one easy to find place” on YouTube

Having started my getting to know bushcraft. I have put together a “Bushcraft tool roll”

Its a start and a good idea to keep all my tools for wood crafting in one convient easy to carry in my backpack roll.

I choose these tools based on some research of the more knowledgeable ushcrafters out there. I am sure with time it will change to suit my needs. But a good start.

Check it out. Comments and ideas always welcome.

Watch “Opinel No. 8 Carbon Steel Blade, Folding Knife – A true legend” on YouTube

Well campers I finally figured out why I see this knife used by outdoor types. Actually just about anybody who appriciates a true legend on thier belt or edc bag.

I finally got one and have to agree that it is one of the best knives I have owned.

As you are aware I like to carve wood. Any wood. Just whityle awsy at it as I contemplate things in general. (read daydream). Its a very relaxing pass time for me.

Back to this unuasual knife. It has been around a long long time and has stood the test of many famous people over the years.

Inpurchased the OPINEL #8. A mid size in a wide range they of. From tiny tiny to a solid 12 incher. Its a folding knive with a unique locking method. But what really impressed me. The sharpness of this carbon steel blade. Its a sabre style (tip up) and out the box I could gave the hair off my arm. A first for me.

I am currently uding it to make a hiking staff. And it cuts like a razor. What a joy to use.

Check out a quick video I did to introduce youself to a true legend

Watch “Big Stick #4 – A Bushcraft Reference Tool – with some character added” on YouTube

The Idea behind this big stick, Is it will be a reference to to some basic bushcraft skills. Not only do I get to practice knife skills and cordage but typical notches used in bushcraft.

Then it comes with me on my walkabouts with built in reminders.

Also plan on adding some character to the staff in the way of a common Forrest wizard face wood carve.

Well thats the plan. Time will tell

Dont forget knowledge is a survival skill.

“Basic Bushcraft Practice –  learning my Trail Boss Axe” on YouTube

Bushcraft for me has always had the myth that it is way beyond my capabilities. I have stuck to the basic survival policy of 72 hours. 10 C,s EDC surviving a short disaster.

Now having got rid of the to much for me attitude. I have discovered a new passion. Learning basic bushcraft.

There is so much to learn. Not just tools and survival skills, but long term survival. Mostly by choice, not by a unexpected happiance.

So my jourey begis. Tiny steps for sure. But uts a beginnig.

“My Bushcraft Walkabout Daypack – First go at it.”

Well I have been working on my Bushcraft skills, what few I have. Over the last couple oaths I have been scrimping and scraping my budget to get what I thought was the basic tools I would need to start learning this whole Bushcraft thing.

Well I have gathered and now I need to carry them.

This is my first attempt at a “Bushcraft” style daypack. As it turned out its not what I hoped for and now I know.

I believe Bushcraft provides you two things. Knowledge of the wilderness. And how to survive using that knowledge.

For me the tools of bushcraft and how to use them are starting point.

So I start learning. Straight away I found I have to adapt. The budget and all. And figure out how to lesson my load out daypack while still having all the tools and knowledge to “Bushcraft”

Remember Knowledge is a survival skill. That goes for bushcraft too.
